Costas Now Aftermath

Well, as I open my e-mail inbox this morning, I find plenty of reaction to last night’s Costas Now on HBO, especially the segment on blogs. Now, I have yet to see this, I have recorded Costas Now on DVD and will watch it tonight, but there’s plenty of anger directed towards Costas for his apparent character assassination of blogs and especially towards author Buzz Bissinger who took the opportunity of his 15 minutes to go after Deadspin’s Will Leitch for everything from comments on his blog to the spread of Malaria in the Congo.

Friend of Fang’s Bites, David Scott from the Boston Sports Media Watch, says the entire blog segment during the Costas Now Town Hall discussion could not have gone worse.

Over at Deadspin, Will Leitch is diplomatic over his tag-team grilling by Bissinger and Costas.

Michael David Smith over at the AOL Fanhouse blog calls last night’s show a verbal assault on Leitch.

Awful Announcing gives its take on the whole thing.

The Big Lead felt Will Leitch was being thrown into a hornet’s nest.

SportsbyBrooks feels Will did his best to take the high road during the segment.

Newsday’s Neil Best was fascinated by Bissinger’s behavior. Neil was also fascinated by another segment on Costas Now in which Michael Strahan and Chris Russo talked for the first time in 9 years.

I have to step out of my office for a bit, I’ll have the Wednesday links coming up. I have not seen so much anger directed towards one person on the blogosphere, ever. Leave it to Buzz Bissinger to make us maligned bloggers into sympathetic characters.
