NBC Sports and Notre Dame Extend Agreement for Five More Years

In a deal announced earlier today, NBC and Notre Dame will remain partners through the 2015 season. And under the terms of the new deal, Notre Dame will have seven home games including an off-site home game in primetime, meaning NBC Sports will carry as many as 8 Notre Dame games a season starting in 2009.

Tom Coyne of CNBC says NBC Universal Sports Emperor Dick Ebersol did not take last year’s 3-9 season into account when renewing the rights deal.

CNBC’s Darren Rovell says Notre Dame is starting to schedule easier opponents to help pad its record.

Pete Dougherty of the Albany Times Union writes that by the end of the new deal NBC will have broadcast Notre Dame for 25 seasons.

Angelo Di Carlo of NBC affiliate WNDU writes that the station could not be more thrilled to be the home of Notre Dame football in South Bend.

One more post coming up, also about college football. Guess what this is about.
