BREAKING NEWS: NFL Network Will Remain on Comcast Systems … For Now

One advantage to having Twitter and following NFL Public Relations guy Brian McCarthy is that you sometimes get breaking news. Happening now, Comcast has agreed to keep NFL Network beyond its midnight deadline while talks between the two parties continue.

Right when Brian made this Tweet,

NFL Network will continue to be carried on Comcast past 2nite’s expiration of current contract while both sides continue discussions.

An e-mail came into the Fang’s Bites inbox with the following joint statement from Comcast and the NFL.

STATEMENT FROM COMCAST & NFL NETWORK SPOKESPERSONS:

“Comcast and the NFL are engaged in productive discussions toward a new agreement for NFL Network carriage on Comcast. NFL Network will continue to be carried on Comcast systems past tonight’s scheduled expiration of the current contract while both sides continue these productive discussions. We are both working to find a solution that works for NFL fans and Comcast’s customers.”

So for those who pay extra to have NFL Network through Comcast’s Sports Tier, you will continue to have the channel on your systems for the time being.
