Inside the NFL's Quotes and Notes

We have the quotes from tonight's Inside the NFL on Showtime.

NEWS, NOTES AND QUOTES FROM WEEK SIX OF INSIDE THE NFL ON SHOWTIME®

NEW YORK (October 14, 2009) This week’s INSIDE THE NFL on SHOWTIMEWednesday, Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT features an in-depth conversation on the Rush Limbaugh-St. Louis Rams situation with former NFL player Roman Oben and an interview with New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton.

Host James Brown anchors INSIDE THE NFL on SHOWTIME with All-Pro NFL greats Cris Collinsworth, Phil Simms and Warren Sapp serving as expert analysts. INSIDE THE NFL is being produced by CBS Sports and NFL Films with new episodes airing on SHOWTIME every Wednesday during the NFL season through February 10, 2010. Pete Radovich serves as coordinating producer. The executive producers are Sean McManus, President, CBS News and Sports, and NFL Films President Steve Sabol.

Following are excerpts transcribed from this week’s episode:

(On discussions about Rush Limbaugh becoming an owner of the NFL):

Warren Sapp: In a league that is 65% African-American it has to be a discussion that we are having…When you are talking about free agency, you have to decide whether I am going to this team or that team. And if he is the owner of one of those teams, that would definitely weigh into my decision whether I am going to go play for that ball club or not. There is no greater dilemma I would have, then if Rush Limbaugh was the owner of the team and walked up and wanted a hand shake. That is a very difficult situation.

Cris Collinsworth: First of all there is no chance in my mind that Rush Limbaugh gets into the NFL. The NFL owners are going to do what we’ve seen done in the past. ‘OK, players in the NFL here is what we are doing for you. We are making sure Rush Limbaugh doesn’t get into the NFL because we are protecting your best interests.’ In the meantime there are still 32 white owners, there is a white Commissioner. I am not saying that there is any racism in the NFL at all and I know that the league has tried to step up and find an African-American owner.

It's at 9 on Showtime, 10 on Sho2.
